Alix and Christopher Atlanta Wedding

I first photographed Alix and Chris their engagement session down in Savannah last fall in preparation for coverage of their wedding day in April. That experience whetted my appetite for what I knew would be a spectacular day at the Capital City Club in Brookhaven. I wasn’t disappointed.

We began photographs in their suites at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Buckhead, and continued at the club with the bride and groom sharing a “semi-private” moment together. The tender chemistry they share paralleled their excitement over what would follow.

The great room of the club gave the pre-wedding photos the appearance of an English country estate. The casual look of the flowers created by Catherine Walther of Arrangements by Catherine was a perfect touch for the tented ceremony. After that we used the early evening light and the beautiful exterior for some fun images with the wedding party.

The fun theme carried over to the party. Rupert’s Orchestra kept the upbeat tempo going nonstop. Sweatbands embroidered with the bride and groom’s names were handed out to the guests, and “PB&J” Panini’s with glasses of milk [The groom’s favorite food] were served at the end.

Special thanks to Helene and Company for planning and directing everything right up to the departure in a silver Bentley. Best wishes to Alix and Chris!

Atlanta Garden Wedding Photographs

Every year it seems I have an event to photograph on my birthday. Sometimes I enjoy the assignments more than others. Jewel and Jason met with me last summer to hire me to photograph their wedding at the Grand Hyatt, Buckhead on April 3, 2011.  After getting to know them and their three adorable children, Josiah, Jacob and Jennifer I immediately knew working with them would be a great way to spend my birthday.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony. The Japanese garden on the 3rd floor terrace at the hotel sparkled in the sunlight. Azalea and cherry blossoms provided a beautiful background for the altar created by Event Design Group for the ceremony.

After photographs inside the garden, Jewel and Jason joined their friends and family for cocktails by the garden waterfall outside Cassis Restaurant Barbara Roos, Chris Macksey and the Event Design Group staff took a simple theme to transform the restaurant into an intimate, elegant candle lit setting.

Sarah-Jane Bennett and her staff from All Events Perfect kept everything going smoothly.  Jaclyn Showalter and the Grand Hyatt staff were professional as usual. Everyone contributed to what was a memorable wedding day and a happy birthday.
